Jerzy W. — The Writer
He never wrote the book he hoped to be remembered for, although throughout his life he dreamed of writing a novel.
He published short pieces in newspapers, corrected other people’s sentences and kept postponing his own writing. He always carried a notebook and a fountain pen, filling them with observations, single sentences and ideas for stories.
No photograph of him has survived.
No one knows what was written on the last page of his notebook.
From the series “1920–1939. Imagined Portraits”.
