1920–1939. Imagined Portraits
“1920–1939. Imagined Portraits” is an evolving series of imagined portraits of people who never existed, but could have.
Each character is given a name, a story and a fragment of a biography set against the realities of the interwar period. The aim is not to reconstruct the past, but to create a memory of people whose traces might have disappeared — photographs, letters, unfinished stories and lives no longer remembered.
Painting and text together form a fictional testimony of a life. The portraits do not depict real individuals, but remain suspended between document, memory and imagination.
The series is an ongoing project.
